Otto-von-Guericke University (Magdeburg-Germany), University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (Vila Real-Portugal) and the Lithuanian Sports University (Kaunas-Lithuania) would like to welcome you to the International Master in Performance Analysis of Sport (IMPAS). The IMPAS study program is an intensive programme where students will not only be studying a multitude of discipline-specific subjects, but also immersing themselves in education and training in an international context. As a result of this you will need to be flexible to the different approaches of study and practice which exist at the various universities, as these varied experiences will provide you with a valuable learning experience. By remaining open to new methods and opportunities you will get the most from your study experience.

INTRODUCTION

 

The study programme “International Master in Performance Analysis of Sport” is achieved through an intensive and applied study of scientific methodology specific to the discipline areas as well as multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives of Sports Studies.

 

The study programme is based on the cooperation between the three named universities: Otto-von-Guericke University (Magdeburg, Germany), in cooperation with the Universidade of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (Vila Real, Portugal) and Lithuanian Sports University (Kaunas, Lithuania).

 

The program is implemented using the mobility resources of the Erasmus scheme. Students will face opportunity to perform the study programme at three universities.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
 

The examinations focus upon whether the student has obtained the knowledge understanding and skills for the transition into professionally relevant positions.

The student possesses the abilities to apply scientific theory, methodology and findings. Based on the recognition that the demand for scientifically qualified staff in Sport science/performance analysis is increasing, the study programme prepares the following optional areas:

 

  • Quantitative biomechanical analysis of technique

  • Qualitative biomechanical analysis of technique

  • Match analysis in individual and team sports

  • Analysis of technical effectiveness

  • Analysis of patterns of play, tactics and strategy

  • Analysis of movement, work rate and physical demands

  • Analysis of movement and injury risk

  • Analysis of umpire or referee decision making

  • Analysis of coach behaviour

  • Analysis of psychological aspects of performance such as aggression and attentional focus

CONDITIONS OF ADMISSION

 

The conditions of admissions are as follows:

 

  1. Criterion for admission to the study programme is a Bachelor degree or equivalent from an institution of higher education recognised in Germany, Portugal or Lithuania in an area of Sport Sciences or related. 

  2. Students whose native language is not English will have to prove their proficiency in English by the TOEFL test with a score of above 550 or IELTS band 6.0 (B2 level) or above.

This Master of Science degree generally starts in winter semesters only. Candidates can apply for this programme for the first time in winter semester 2015/2020. 

EXPLORE THE EUROPEAN CONTINENT
  • Semesters 1 to 3 will be undertaken at the three universities.

 

  • The final semester (including the preparation of the Master Thesis) can be attended at Otto-von-Guericke University, University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro or at the Lithuanian Sports University.

 

  • The compulsory internship can be attended in Germany, Portugal, Lithuania or other countries (when duly authorized by the university coordinator through which the student was admitted to the course).
